Color/Appearance: Heartwood is light to medium reddish brown. Paler sapwood is usually well defined.
Grain/Texture: Grain is interlocked (making it very resistant to splitting). With a somewhat coarse, uneven texture.
Info: This wood is extremely RARE. This is quartersawn and was salvaged in the 1980's. There are very few Elm trees still in existence due to 90% of them being wiped out in the 1920's because of the Dutch Elm Disease
